A 1950s Stevens 58D bolt-action field shotgun in 20 gauge, with no serial number as made. The 25-inch barrel has a fixed Full choke and a 2 3/4-inch chamber, and the bore is graded excellent. Finish is blue, the wood stock is checkered, and length of pull is 14 inches. The supplier notes light handling marks on both finish and stock and rates overall condition very good.
Bolt-action shotguns like the 58D were the plain farm and small-game guns of their day, and this one is still set up that way with a fixed Full choke for tight patterns at distance. In New Jersey a 20 gauge is the smallest bore the state permits for deer during its shotgun seasons, so this Stevens meets the gauge rule; the supplier does not state capacity, so check the shell count against the three-shell limit with your dealer. For a first vintage shotgun or a light walk-up gun, it is an easy one to live with.
