An Ithaca 4E single-barrel trap gun, serial 278271T, from about 1916, which Turnbull Restorations has rebuilt from end to end. The 32-inch ventilated-rib tube carries two beads, a 2 3/4-inch chamber and a fixed choke at .028. A beavertail forend pairs with a slim straight-hand stock measuring 13 3/4 inches to Ithaca's red rubber pad, dropping 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 inches.
Turnbull's work shows in the charcoal blue on the barrel and trigger guard, the case colors and engraving on the frame, and the walnut in an oil finish with fleur-de-lis pattern checkering. The bore rates excellent and the gun very good overall; it is offered on consignment. For a New Jersey trap shooter or Ithaca collector, this is a century-old competition gun returned to its period look, holding one shell at a time, and the short pull suits a smaller-framed shooter or a heavy-coat winter mount.
