Girsan's MC312 is an inertia-driven 12 gauge semi-automatic with a 28-inch vent-rib barrel chambered for 3 1/2-inch shells. An aluminum receiver keeps it at 6.95 pounds despite a 50-inch overall length; length of pull is 14.25 inches. The synthetic stock and forend are black, the tube holds 5+1, a fiber optic front sight marks the rib, and a manual safety is fitted. There is no optic mount and no threaded muzzle.

The 3 1/2-inch chamber lets the MC312 digest everything from light target shells to the heaviest 12 gauge loads, and inertia operation has few parts to clean after a muddy day. For New Jersey deer it is within the gauge rule, and the state's December Six-Day Firearm season and zone-based Permit Shotgun seasons are shotgun territory, but the 5+1 tube must be limited to the three-shell rule before you hunt. At 6.95 pounds and 50 inches it is a light full-size gun that carries easily on a long walk.
