American Tactical's Cavalry SX410 is a .410 over-and-under weighing just 4.25 pounds. The 26-inch barrels are 4140 chrome-moly steel, chrome plated inside and out and blued on the outside, with 3-inch chambers. The steel receiver is engraved, the stock and forend are oil-finished Turkish walnut, and the gun has automatic ejectors, a single selective trigger, a brass bead and an ambidextrous manual safety. Five chokes from Cylinder to Full are included.

A .410 double this light is a classic starter gun and a pleasant one for walking up small game, where carrying matters more than payload. The ejectors throw empties clear so a reload is quick. New Jersey's deer rules call for 10 through 20 gauge, so the SX410 is not a deer gun here; it is a range, small-game and clays shotgun, and the choke set lets it do all three.
