The 20 gauge Viper G2 is a semi-automatic hunting shotgun with a 28-inch chrome-lined barrel and chamber, a 3-inch chamber and a five-round tube for 5+1. Blued metal sits in a black synthetic stock and forearm, a fiber optic front sight sits at the muzzle, and the manual E-Z Load magazine cut-off gives control over what feeds. Weight is 6.9 pounds, length of pull 14.25 inches, overall length 46 inches, and three Beretta-style chokes, improved cylinder, modified and full, are included.

In New Jersey a 20 gauge falls within the 10-to-20 gauge deer rule, and the Six-Day Firearm season in December plus the zone-based Permit Shotgun dates are where a semi-automatic with the tube limited to the state's three-shell count earns its keep. The rest of the year the full and modified tubes handle longer shots in the field, and the cut-off lets you change the chambered shell without emptying the tube. Synthetic furniture and blued steel are easy to keep in order after wet days.
