Traditions' FR18511 reproduces the 1851 Colt Navy pattern as a .44 caliber cap-and-ball revolver. The octagonal barrel is blued and measures 7.4 inches, the frame and trigger guard are brass, and the grip is walnut. It weighs 2.5 pounds, runs 13.5 inches overall and holds six charges in the cylinder. Sights are the traditional hammer-notch rear and blade front, and the cylinder is reached through a break-open, lever-style loading arrangement.

This is a revolver for re-enactors, collectors and shooters who enjoy loading powder, ball and cap one chamber at a time at the range. As a handgun listing it goes through New Jersey's Permit to Purchase process: file online with the NJSP Firearms Application and Registration System to your local police, wait for the permit, and have the dealer run the State Police check at pickup. The permit stays valid for 90 days plus one automatic renewal, which helps if the first delivery date slips.
