Pietta's 1851 Navy Sheriff is an Italian-made reproduction of the short-barreled Navy, built in 2017 in .44 caliber for black powder only. It carries a 4.75-inch octagon barrel in blue, a brass frame, a six-chamber cylinder and wood grips, and the lockwork is single action. Used, with faint marks on the finish and frame, an excellent bore and very good overall condition. Serial number 692496.

This is a range and living-history revolver, not a defensive gun. Our New Jersey page treats it as a handgun, so plan on a Permit to Purchase a Handgun through the NJSP online system and your local police department; you must be 21, the permit runs 90 days with one automatic renewal, and the dealer runs the State Police background check before release. The short octagon barrel is what sets the Sheriff pattern apart from the standard Navy.
