The Uberti 1858 New Army Target Carbine is a percussion revolving long gun: a six-shot .44 cap-and-ball cylinder behind an 18-inch barrel, with a shoulder stock that brings overall length to 35.3 inches and weight to 4.4 pounds. The frame and barrel are blued, the buttplate and trigger guard are brass, and the grip is walnut. It fires single action and wears target-style sights.

This is a range and collector's piece: the revolving carbine layout gives six shots between reloads from a shouldered gun, and the target sights plus 18-inch barrel suit careful bench or offhand shooting with black powder. The brass buttplate and guard against blued steel give it the period look Uberti is known for. New Jersey's permit process starts online through the NJSP Firearms Application and Registration System to your local police department, and the dealer runs a State Police background check before release.
